If you're like me, the opening of a new Western - our national genre - is news for rejoicing. When I heard that David People's script is thematically ambitious, I was even more excited to see this film. But all of that just made Unforgiven a bigger disappointment. Unforgiven is a textbook example of what happens when you don't track your theme through the structure. You can also download a copy of the screenplay and judge for yourself.
