Interesting comment piece in today's Guardian, about the future of BBC funding. MeidaGuardian editor Emily Bell argues that the corporation's decision to start charging overseas users for access to its popular websites is part of a plan to make the BBC self-sufficient if and when the licence fee is axed. Bell, who runs the Guardian's own online empire, is a direct cyber-competitor of the BBC's.
