  1. FROM THE CHAIR OF THE TV COMMITTEE:

It's wonderful to have so many splendid writers being honoured by Bafta, but once again they've put writers into an award ghetto. I have nothing but admiration for all the craft industries, without which a script would be only pieces of paper. But why aren't the writers awarded at the same time as the actors, directors and producers? We are a vital part of the creative team, you know, and sometimes even beautifully photogenic. This is almost as great as when films or TV series hold previews and Q & A sessions, and everyone including the location caterer is on stage... bar the writer(s). Please can we come in from the cold?
