The challenge of treatments

On his new blog, Guild Member Jeremy Paul ponders the challenge of writing treatments.

  1. FROM THE CHAIR OF THE TV COMMITTEE

The treatment of treatments is a burning question for all writers, and the soon-to-be- launched WGGB Good Practice Guide for television will cover all that. We define as clearly as we can the differences between writing ideas, storylines, outlines, treatments and trial scripts (Isn't this a scene from "Annie Hall?") We also tell both writer and production personnel how much work they can expect in each catagory, at what point they have to start paying, and who owns what and when. The Film Committee is working on their own Guide too.

We'll let you know when the Guides are available. We're hoping it'll make life a lot easier for writers and all concerned. And doesn't that make a change?
