As you can see (right), the results of our blog poll into product placement on terrestrial TV show that 58% of those voting thought that the government shouldn't lift the current ban.

Yes. Subject to sensible (and workable) guidelines and so long as it is not 'in your face'. Product placement must form a believable part of a drama and be fitting for the characters. This will mean very close cooperation (right from the start) between writers and advertisers. Financially it makes sense - broadcasters are running out of funds and advertisers' offerings, via commercials, are lost by fast-forwarding. So if writers want to be paid, go with it!
